Over 95 ISA members and guests attended the Technical Topic: Automation and the Industrial Internet of Things Meeting. This topic was presented by Brad MacDonald at The Winston Golf Club. ISA members came and met the leaders in their field.
Brad discussed how the low oil price is driving companies to explore ways to cut both CAPX and OPX to maintain profitability through increased production while reducing their operating costs. These costs are compounded for producers who have remote facilities that require extra resources and overhead to operate and maintain their operation. One solution that is being used to solve this problem is to implement a Collaborative and Remote Operation solution that leverages off of the automation technology into a Cloud/Internet of Things bringing all important Performance, Maintenance and KPI data to all levels of the organization. The collaborative solution enables all users to access their data, move personnel off-premises and implement maintenance solutions that are preventive based rather than reactive. This presentation explored how you create such a solution and examine the integration of data from different systems and sites.
Presenter Brad MacDonald is an Automation Marketing Manager and Subject Matter Expert who works with Oil and Gas Companies to define and develop leading automation solutions that reduce both CAPX and OPX. Brad works with both the sales and operation groups in ABB to innovate and implement these new technologies and strategies to better serve their operational challenges.
Lastly, in addition the technical talk and AGM was ISA Calgary’s Awards Night. The ISA Calgary Section honoured its ISA members with 25, 30, 35 & 40+ years of continuous membership. See names below…
