Calgary hosted a giant game of snakes and ladders as part of the fifth annual Beakerhead festival, which got underway on September 13th.
One of this year’s highlights was the fire-breathing Serpent Mother installation, based at Fort Calgary. A women-only team of engineers and scientists from the San Francisco area built and now operate the 51-metre-long structure, which houses 40 different pillars of fire.
Last year’s Beakerhead attracted more than 130,000 people. Organizers are hoping to top that this year, despite the rain and cool temperatures expected during the first two days.
Thanks to Brian Van Vliet for organizing this evening for some of our ISA members and guests. The ISA Calgary Section is proud sponsor of Beakerhead.
